R A F 100 Years
« on: July 10, 2018, 10:34:54 AM »
I can hear the BBC supposed coverage of this event in the background as I'm writing this, it's making me wonder why their coverage sounds more like a load of drivelling nonsense about the royals than things relevant to the R A F, I'v heard about all I would need to hear about the efefady efefady royal family for a lifetime in this one event from the BBC, which I'll be turning off in a mo before I become physically sick.

I thought it was supposed to be celebrating the Raf's 100th anniversary.

A fantastic display, it makes you glad to be a Brit, :) even more so as we have a Monarchy of which to be proud.

Not going to happen.

Why does a bunch of aircraft make you glad to be a 'britr'?
I most certainly am not glad to be a 'brit'.

Oh, yes, and why should a load of planes flyying ovwer an ancestral pile inhabited by a shower of unelected aristocrats make one proud of the monarchy?

Yes it was a fantastic display L R, what's that got to do with the royals, or how long this person you refer to as the queen lives?

Incidentally the whole lot of them flew over my place, in salute to me of course, just before they turned around over west London so that the rabble got a chance to see them as well.

Regards L R (Floo).

Things like that don't interest me much but I will look at the news reports seeing as it has been mentioned here. I suppose the royal involvement is because they have personal links with the Royal airforce and are expected to be at such events. Personally I'd be bored stiff and try to get out of it but I'm not in a position where anyone would tell me I have to do certain things dressed up like a dog's dinner. I doubt very much the media made too much of the royals being there as such a lot of other things went on but you have to accept that many people are interested in them, even if you're not. Did you no harm.

Perhaps you'll tell me what "efefady" means being as you used the word twice. I googled it and nothing came up, is it an acronym?

The harm is the demonstration of how powerful indoctrination can be with this imaginary right of the very senseless idea of these kept people are virtually hero worshipped, for what? Being kept?

I might have guessed!

You still haven't said what 'efefady' means.

The bad language does go through my head and this is as near is I'm likely to get to using it.

Did you notice Big Ears medals? What's he ever done to earn himself a medal? Perhaps it'll be like Phill every time he uses the bathroom.

I don't recognise the bad language in that word but never mind.

As for the rest - sigh - I can't deal with resentment or use nicknames for others unless I know them, they like it and tell me I can. No, I noticed none of that, I'm not acutely observant. So please let's leave it there.

A little story. My grandfather flew in the Royal Flying Corps (Pre-RAF) in the 1st World War. He was in Egypt for some of the war and he was a pilot of those bi-plane thingies held together with wire.

I was having a conversation with my Uncle (his son) who told me the story of how a commanding officer ordered my grandfather to go up in one of these planes. After checking the tension of the wires my grandfather refused as it was "strung" incorrectly. The argument between the two became quite heated and ended up with my grandfather being frog marched away for insubordination. The officer then ordered another pilot to fly the plane. He took off and crashed and died.

I think it is fitting and proper that we remember these brave men and women. That the royal family is in attendance worries me not, it is, whether some here like it or not, the way the nation marks these occasions. To use it as a way to use to score cheap points for republicanism is actually demeaning to your cause.

I speak as a republican.

And will continue to do so post Scottish independence, should it be necessary.

The RAF was made up of many people of many nations in WWI; British, Canadian, Australian, Indian, Irish, New Zealand, and never forgetting Polish.
The 'Britain alone' rubbish was never more thwan a myth.
And, yes, these were brave young men.
That was seventy years ago.
I fail to see why a fly-past of 100 planes in front of an unelected anachronism is in any way fitting.
By all means have a commemoration: I'd have thought ariel displays, static displays, demonstrations by the RAF regiment, etc, and a fly past above the national Arboretum more apropriate.
We rightly commemorate the war dead at various war memorial each November; as a matter of fact, thanks to painstaking research, we are adding 21 names of those who fell in WWWi but whose names are unrecorded, to ours; but I think something different than the same old fly past down London's Mall would have been better.

Whilst I agree with you Anchor it just goes to show you the power of indoctrination, you and I noticed it had very little to do with these kept people even though the royals are so obviously a defunct anachronism that no longer makes any logical or rational sense, like religion they still manage hang on, have you noticed the way they manage to hang on mirrors or runs parallel to the exactly similar  methods the religions use to cling on, even though they should have both gone long ago.

Did anybody claim otherwise?

Anybody could go along and see it. They didn't curtain off a whole area of London and then have a private viewing only for the Royal Family.
