I wish they would make up their minds. First they say a very moderate intake is good for you, next it is bad! ::)

I drink a very tiny amount of brandy three times a week. My husband likes  a small single malt whisky on a Sunday lunchtime, it mustn't clash with the meds he has morning and evening.

I don't think either of us would be devastated if we had to give up drink altogether.

I am not worried, although I have to be very careful because the statins I was on for a very high familial cholesterol level didn't do my liver any good at all. :o Neither my husband or I have ever been drunk, I don't think we ever touched any alcohol at all until we were well into our 20s, our parents were TT. The idea of having a hangover does not appeal to either of us.

So what it is saying is that if I drink a scotch at night before bed the odds of it being unsafe is negligible, whereas if I drink a scotch and then drive home, it isn't.

In bed, if you're alone, all you're going to do is sleep and a drink or two isn't going to hurt, it will enhance sleep (not good if you've had a skinful but a little is alright). 

Driving is a different matter, many are not fit to drive after one glass!  Others - big people mainly - are OK after a pint.

Because I am relatively thin and a lightweight regarding booze, I would not drive after drinking even a small amount. Unless a few hours had passed.

Never drunk vodka. On thr rare occasions that I drink spirits, it's single malt whisky (or occasionally whiskey).
