The Worth of Human Life

Makes the point that there is no useful way of measuring the worth of one life over another. I find it pertinent given some of the discussions currently happening.

We like our dichotomies. I think that in the back of Young's mind, were the Eloi and the Morlocks from Wells' Time Machine.

I was reminded by the article that Young had written an article on how he saw his dystopia appearing in the Blair Labour govt. Linked to below, it has a lot of prescience of where we are now.

What leaps out at me is that school as a 'meritocracy' writes off kids as young as seven. I hate our education system with my very bones, and it has only got worse.

Surely it's worse than that? The system implies a 'taint' that is visited upon the following generations, and they are written off unborn.
