The anti vax looks continue their damage

I do not own a pet but I do know people who do own pets (or are employed by pets in the case of cats) and they gave me the impression that if you want to deposit your pet in a cattery (my friend doesn't like it when I refer to it as the catcentration camp) or doggery, you need evidence that your pet has had all the necessary vaccinations.

Am I wrong? If not, failing to vaccinate your pet means failing to go away from home for any extended period.

Is that relevant to people who might do so? Not clear what your point is at all.

I am not in the least bit sentimental about animals of other species, but I think they should be vaccinated if it means that humans are protected from any diseases they might contract.

My point is that it is in an owner’s interest to get their pert vaccinated because, otherwise, they can’t go on holiday.

That going on holiday is the main issue.

People who look after pets professionally while owners go away including catteries and kennels insist on vaccinations.

If you have a relative or friend who does it for you and has no pet of their own they might not think of vacs.

Of course it's important to keep their vaccinations up to date, lung worm and cat flu are not pleasant illnesses to behold. We don't usually catch things from pets, that's zoonosis and such illnesses few and far between. Also fleas carry tapeworms so good idea to use preventative stuff monthly, same with anti worm meds - kids can catch the worms.  I always did that with my animals (don't have any pets now) and they kept well and free from parasites while they lived. Nothing to do with sentimentality, just normal caring and precautionary.

You can't go on holiday and leave your dog or cat at home without somebody to look after them. A common means of avoiding this problem is to put your pet up in a "hotel" (kennels or cattery) while you are away. These places will not accept your pet without evidence of all the requisite vaccinations and, if they do, you should probably not put your pet in there anyway.

I discovered through trial and error and experiment that my dog could live for 4 days without food and drink so I never went on holiday that lasted more than 5 days

I saved a fortune in vaccination bills  8)

If your dog could last four days without food and water and you went on holiday for five days, it’s true you’d save a fortune on vaccinations, but also dog food and, in fact, any expense associated with having a live dog.

I left him 3 tins of food and a tin opener . When I returned he hadn't bothered with them . I can only assume he wasn't hungry !

Not a good idea if you are trying to save money on pet expenses.
