Fecking lunacy is an understatement. I'm not a medic but I know it isn't possible to implant a foetus removed from a fallopian tube into a uterus. It wouldn't work, wouldn't live! Neither would it live if it stayed in the tube, which would perforate and probably cause the death of the host woman. It's heartbreaking enough for a mother to have an ectopic without going through a pointless procedure like that.

Is this all down to the 'teachings' of the orang utan inhabiting the White House? I despair not just of him but those ignorami (sic) who support him - with apologies to orang utans.

I totally agree with you.

The clause says:

Quote
Such steps include, if applicable, attempting to reimplant an ectopic pregnancy into the woman's uterus

It's completely bonkers, but there are two loopholes:

1. "if applicable" - it's not applicable. There's no known procedure to do it successfully.

2. "attempt" - the doctor could pretend to attempt and maybe argue "we tried but it would have put the woman's life in mortal danger". I doubt if anybody in OR that day would dissent from that opinion.

I dislike the term "ectopic pregnancy" because it is a bit too much like "pregnancy". It may confuse ignorant twats wanting to control women's bodies into thinking it's OK. In reality, it is a condition that will definitely kill the baby and probably the mother too unless the foetus is aborted.

Next they'll be making a law to make it illegal to have a miscarriage.

It is possible they would look for something the woman has done, which might have led to  miscarriage.  ::)

Oh don't please!
If I was a doctor over there in charge of an obs & gynae unit, I'd keep quiet about everything and only employ colleagues in the deprtment who were equally discreet. Until the current madness is over.

The madness won't go away until they kick that idiot Trump out of the White House and religion is not mixed with politics in the crazy way it is in the USofA.

A word of caution. Some of the comments seem to suggest this strange directive is already law.

While I agree unreservedly with the sentiments expressed by all the contributors to this thread, we should be aware that this matter is the subject of a Bill. It is not yet a law and (I hope) will not become one.

Please don't make a joke of it, if the bill passes it could do untold damage physically and mentally.

I don't think it will become law LR, it's too ridiculous, not medically sound. People make idiots of themselves even thinking such things are feasible.

Anyway, who is this "Ohio Bill"  is he some kind of High plains drifter ?

I admit to wondering the same :-).

  • God? She's black.
It's only a bill as yet, not law. Hard-right politicians in America introduce insanely right-wing bills like this on a regular basis, knowing they'll never become law, but doing it in order to get a bit od publicity for their bonkers ideas. I remember a few years ago, someone introduced a bill into one state's legislature which would have required all adults to carry a gun in public, unless they hasd a special licence exempting them, and the licence would have cost them money to obtain and renew. Naturally, it failed to become law, but it got a bit of publicity for the gun nuts.

This has got nothing to do with Trump. He and this madness are the symptoms of the sickness in US right wing politics. One is not the cause of the other.

It appears to have got worse now Trump is POTUS.
