There's a real place called Alamogordo? (quick internet search)  It turns out, there's a real place called Alamogordo... in the Marvel Comics it's a one of the nuclear test sites used in the Weapon X programme... it sounded so outlandish I presumed they'd made it up as a spin on 'The Alamo'... :-[
