Two interesting things for me about this. Firstly, By the Sleepy Lagoon (Desert Island Discs theme) which he composed was inspired by a view from Selsey towards Bognor Regis. There is a blue plaque which I passed only last Wedensday on my way to visit a RSPB sanctuary.

Secondly, Coates came from Hucknall my Mothers side of the family home town and my grandfather knew Coates. Sadly I know nothing more about this.
