Anyone up for some classic Anna Moffo performing Vocalise?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBVkYGLEUpg

The crescendo at around 6.12 is astonishing I think.

Coda: I defy anyone with a heart listening to this loud, in the dark and with a glass of something in hand not to well up!

I love Scottish singer songwriters, but I love John Martyn above them all (though both James Grant and Roddy Frame are near as great)

I love Roddy Frame, he wrote and the original of this before he was 20. For those who are not Aztec Camera fans, you should be

Great Irish band:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=paoRkAHq3Zk

(Note to Scots: notice how the pipes sound really tuneful and quite unlike air-raid siren)
Brexit Bar:

Full of nuts but with lots of flakey bits and a bitter aftertaste

A third of twee, perhaps the original Scots twee pop band, though there are a few other contenders

I think we use music, subconsciously perhaps, in a restorative way, like a little self medication for the mind.

When all the world seems to have gone crazy or the nutters seems to have gotten the upper hand, or when I feel disillusioned or dispirited perhaps even with myself, I find Bach more than anything else restores my mind back to balance.

Bach - Feinberg BWV 529; steady, thoughtful, complex yet unpretentious
