If I were you I'd stick Portal 2 on and catch up with the Craig Charles show.

Hadn't seen that for a while - real class

Hendrix did the cover too - Sgt Pepper for instance!

Of course there is the endless Hendrix v Clapton stuff then - I like 'em both - with a better liking of Jimi for the extreme end

Are you familiar with Christy Moore's band 'Planxty'?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VK_caqXhbXU

I quite like this song - especially as I'm learning to play the Uilleann pipes (the bagpipe-like instrument).

What's you view of music lists - Like the Rolling Stone ones - the reviews and views are often by respected people - bit it is opinion

For example,

Number 1&2 albums are Sgt Pepper and Pet Sounds and #20, Thriller

Number 1&2 songs are Bob Dylan - like a rolling stone and rolling sotes, Satisfaction and # 20, Beetles, let it be

My fav in the top 20 are 6 Good Vibrations and 15 London Calling - which probably reflects my age!

Just dusted off my vinyl copy of "Look Sharp" by Joe Jackson - forhot how many good tunes there were on the once LP

The track "Is she really going out with him?" has one of the great bridges  - probably have to get a digi copy for the car now!

Fab back catalogue

I can't wait for this album to drop through the letter box.

I don't mind admitting that hearing the old Russell & Holland magic again brought a tear to my eye.

Would I be right in thinking that you spent some time in North Africa?

There's a great Arabic Herbie Mann album, but I can't find a link at the moment.

I've always thought of Arb music as being a bit of an acquired taste, so I thought that some time spent in North Africa or the Middle East would explain your taste.

Strange that I don't think the same about stuff like Afrobeat - which I can't get enough of. Speaking of which, here's something from the Nu Afrobeat scene. Kokolo - Mister Sinister:

For a bit of a change, here's some b-boy action - music isn't music if it doesn't make you move.

Love it - Rainbow did have a lyrical sense of rock, always like a bit of Ritchie Blackmore

A bit of his own stuff

That's just wrong. I always said that the idea of Greedo shooting first was a slippery slope.
