Dear Blue,

Quote
Yes, he has gone. He had some personal issues to deal with that he didn't want to discuss here, and I believe any negative comments were about the behaviour of some posters rather than about the forum itself. With a bit of luck he'll back when he's ready.

Damn!! if you are reading Prof, come back soon.

Yes, when I post something on this thread, I always check out Prof's latest contribution. So yesterday I looked back and back and further back and found.... nothing. A real shame.

Hang-in there, Prof, whatever is going-on with you.

And for the time being here's some Howlin' Wolf.... Smokestack Lightnin':

The great Paul Quinn, and the quite simply magnificent Edwyn Collins. If you haven't seen The Possibilities are Endless, do so.

Having referenced a Kirsty McColl song elsewhere and realising that it is the anniversary of her death.

The other morning this tune was going through my head from my days at junior school assembly and music group.

Wonderful words to this song.
I usually get too emotional when it comes to singing the verse with the line:
"Its hard to dance with the Devil on your back."

I think I have finally got around to the idea of this thread.

They might be regarded as one hit wonders with 74/75 but here's a great track from the Connels' album, 'Ring'.

As a Child I also remember the song 'As Jacob with travel'.

Sometimes the truth  that even with the devil on your back the dance will still go on.

"I have overcome the world"  1 John 2:14

14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
Revelation 12:11King James Version (KJV)

11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

It all comes down to love of all.

For all the love that from our earliest days

For all the love that from our earliest days
Has gladdened life and guarded all our ways,
We bring Thee, Lord, our song of greatful praise,

Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

For all the truth from wisdom's lighted page,
Undimmed and pure, that shines from age to age,
God's holy Word, our priceless heritage,

For all the Joy that childhood's days have brought,
For healthful lives and purity of thought,
For lifes deep meaning to our spirits taught,

For all the hope that sheds its glorious ray
Along the dark and unknown future way,
And lights the path to God's eternal day,

For all the strength that has been gained through prayer,
To face lifes tasks, its eager quests to share,
Till ampler powers fulfil its promise fair,

For Christ the Lord our saviour and our friend,
Upon whose love and truth our souls depend,
Our hope, our strength, our joy that knows no end,
