Struggling to link to YouTube, but hey - I keep putting up Tired Pony so you might as well have the whole website. Been listening to their albums through the weekend - great stuff.

This takes me back to my misspent youth, English progressive rockband Yes making a wall of sound of symphonic scope and richness in Starship Trooper

Found an old favourite of mine on iTunes - Richard Digence - 200 remembers!

I realised some time back that, if I'm in anyway down, I'll tend to reach for my Bruce Hornsby (and the Range) material.  His 'Greatest Radio Hits' is well worth a listen to.

Not only just simply one of the greatest tracks ever, but sadly appropriate in the wake of events over Sinai, and in Beirut, Paris, Nigeria and elsewhere recently.

Can't say that I've ever heard it before today.  Can't think of specific songs but it seems to reflect the sentiments of many other songs.

It may well do - music's an aesthetic thing, and for me this is the one that resonates.

Two deconstruction of hit songs, the first in their musical structure, the second the lyrics and performances of boy bands

Saw Axis of Awesome at Reading (university, not the festival!) last year - outstanding.

I prefer their deconstruction of the boy band phenomenon...

Of course this sort of thing has a long history, and this one was a hit.
