Gig Review

I saw Hard Fi at Bristol last Sunday

They played a 75 minute set including encore with a good mix of the new album plus the two older ones - with crowd pleasers mixed in amongst the new stuff - so that the more casual fans could get into the event

The guys obviously play well as a group and clearly enjoyed the gig as did a pretty packed Bristol uni crowd

Overall - an involving gig with a band that knows what its doing and what it is trying to achieve.

Worth a view of they are appearing near you soon (they are on tour now - i think more in the North)

And finally......this isn't a specific recommendation, but if you love live music and good drama, I think you will get a great deal of enjoyment from watching Treme - it's my highlight of the week. The latest series is going down like a smooth sazerac.......especially when it comes to the Hot Brass 8 storyline.

Just Finished watching this week's Jools Holland and after being impressed by Ghostpoet I checked out his album on iTunes and was more than a little underwhelmed.........basically a very poor imitation of the little know MC Buzz B.

A short while back Sean announced a 2nd album and previewed tracks on Myspace, but since then he has stopped updating his account and pretty much disappeared from the face of the planet (i.e. the Internet). It's a real pity as the new material sounded great.

Music is never about playing one chord so never one choice of music.
May be you just cannot appreciate music outside your own comfort zone.
Nowt to worry about I guess you would make a pretty mundane musician.
You would probably be a member of the only band never signed.

I can pick number ones from any album which releases a single track from them.
But better pick up yourself from the floor no offence meant but music is never about just your type.

Whilst I don't get your taste, I appreciate where you are coming from (hence my levity).

I'm very much in favour of pushing my comfort zone and I embrace all kinds of music, so I don't really get your unnecessary hostility. On top of that I think this is my favourite thread on this MB as it is a great platform for learning about great music that I would'nt ordinarily come across.

I may not like everything suggested, but there are so many good revelations that make up for the dross.

Well, despite the fluff associated with Cliff, I never dismisss the Shadows as there are a few gems amongst the rough (a bit like Status Quo's Pictures Of Matchstick Men). Whilst I will only listen to the Incredible Bongo Band version, the Shadows are after all responsible for Apache.

I really have nothing to say to you... I suppose if you do not get my taste in music you will have to explain what is wrong with America, Stranglers, Bread, Pink Floyd, Tomita, Mike Oldfield, Moody Blues, Justin Hayward, John Miles, Kate Bush etc etc etc All big recording stars amongst the many others and classical composers now dead but still having their music played in ballet and opera as well as churches.

Not sure why you think they are relevant to the MOR you posted last night, but if that sort of thing floats your boat, good luck to you. Maybe someone else will enjoy the music and discover a band they haven't come across before - that's what this thread is all about. No one is obliged to like (or politely pretend to like) every band or song featured on this thread.

So can we put all this silliness behind us and get on with enjoying the music?

As you can see the thread was about what you were listening to now.
It was based on the fact music is something we all love.

The thread is one I started so who best to know the reason for the thread?
Whilst we can all share the benefit of what others post..... we might like to be honest to admit that it was about what we were listening to.
I did tell you my reasons but still persisted to try and make it out to be something else. I think you owe me an apology.
