Indeed, or rather was at the time. In fact any prog rock then, now I have wider tastes but am not "fanatical" about anyone.

I tend to think of Soft Machine, and Henry Cow, as avante garde jazz, rather than prog rock, since the former play music which experiments with different modes, and unusual arrangements which can involve the drummer playing a different time signature to the bassist. Prog rock to my mind is more about muscianship, and melody/harmony.
