I don't have holidays now having caring responsibilities, but back in the day I didn't mind staying in a decent hotel.

Will you drive in fog? I won't I think it is dangerous.

I always drive in a fog, like many of the others on the Geriatric Riviera.

We have the most up to date traffic calming system.  I think it is called 'Pot Holes'.  What irritates you the most about other road users?

I am really irritated by cyclists who ride together in groups preventing cars passing them, and the ones who don't wear high visibility jackets so they are easily seen.

Are there many speed bumps in your neighbourhood? We have a lot in our village.

Yes.  The ambulance drivers love them as they help to keep the patients conscious.

Have you ever driven behind a bus, which is behind a cyclist, up a steep winding hill road for 2 miles?

Typical ill-informed anti-cyclist prejudice from a car driver. I pretty much never see groups of cyclists blocking cars from overtaking - they ride single file. I'm sure the same is true where you are. If you've got normal eyesight, you should have no difficulty seeing cyclists in daylight (hi-viz jackets are a good idea at night, but not essential if your headlights are working properly), and if you haven't got normal eyesight, you shouldn't be driving.

Do you think vehicle excise duty should be increased, to more accurately reflect the amount of harm, environmental and otherwise, that cars do?

Typical Steve, obsessive cyclist nonsense! ;D

The vehicle licence fee should be lowered for those with electric cars.

Should cyclists have to have licences too? They did in my home island when I was young.

No. We should be encouraging cycling, not discouraging it, and there's no evidential case for it.
Should Covid-19 vaccination be legally obligatory for all who have not got a valid medical reason not to be? I'm not sure, but I think there's a strong case for a degree of compulsion via continuing restrictions on the refusers.

I think they should be compulsory unless there is a valid medical reason for a person not having them.

How often do you check your bank accounts? I check ours on a daily basis.

Not as frequently as you.

Have you ever scraped a car when  manoeuvring out of a parking space?
I did it , for the first time ever, about an hour ago in my local Morrisons. The other owner was packing her shopping at the time....unfortunately!
Looks like a T-cut job luckily.

No thank goodness.

Has anyone ever risked their life to save yours? I have often mentioned 'Auntie' Myra (now 103) saved me from the horse and cart, which was bolting towards me on our drive when I was two.

Have you ever had bottles/cartons of milk left on doorstep which were frozen & took ages to defrost?

Many years ago, yes.
I remember the birds tapping through the foil to get the cream also.

No.
Have you ever been hospitalised after a road traffic accident? I was, for nine weeks, after I was knocked of my bike by a motorcyclist n 2014. I broke my right heel bone, and my left collar bone in two places.

Yes - I cut it very short with an electric clipper every six months or so.
Do you mainly access the internet via a smartphone, a laptop, or a desktop?

Yes. I was interviewed on BBC Midlands News when I was chairman of the parish council.

I have also been seen on two occasions at the front of the audience in the arena at the Last Night of the Proms. If i tell you that the conductor was Malcolm Sargent you will realise that it was not last year.

Gosh, I feel happy now at 60 & apart from one time, have always been quite happy. I don't know, maybe when children were small.

When were you unhappiest?

I have quite a number whom I like to read, no one in particular.

Have you ever had any of your writing published?

Yes - a collection of poetry and a few poems in various magazines, including two in the 'Literary Review', when it had a much-missed poetry competition each month: one won joint second prize, earning me £75, and the other won first prize - £300.
Who is your favourite artist? ("No-one in particular" is not an acceptable answer. Pick one at random if necessary.)

A local artist called Graeme Lothian. He wears shorts even in the snow, and was shot in the arm by the Taliban.
