Federer loses in 3 sets to Basilashvili. Not seen the match. Basilashvili is a good player but hasn't been on form of late.

Big win for Karatsev in Dubai as he continues his great start to the year. Standing at 5 in the ATP Race currently, and up 89 places in the rankings since start of year.

Unlike Dubai, where the unseeded Karatsev beat the qualifier Harris in the final, Acapulco had the top 2 seeds Tsitsipas and Zverev in the final, with Zverev winning.

Djokovic adds to the withdrawals in the men's singles at Miami, and Serena pulls out of the women's

Good win for the Skupski brothers in Acapulco doubles

I am sorry to read that. I wonder how he deals with these setbacks? With a positive attitude, or well, that's life attitude, or with a lot of anxiety?

Medvedev knocked out by Bautista Agut. Sinner into the semi finals and up to 24 in the provisional rankings.

Osaka knocked out by Sakkari, meaning Barty will remain No 1

Barty and Andreescu into women's final. Great to see Andreescu back from injury and playing well.

In the men's semi finals, even with the absence of so many top and well known players, a line up of Bautista Agut, Rublev, Hurkacz and Sinner would be novel.

Evans and Neale Skupski into the final of the men's doubles in their first tournament. Since Jamie Murray split with Neale Skupski, Skupski has beaten Murray and Soares twice, once with Evans, and once with his brother Ken. He's guaranteed his highest ever doubles ranking after the tournament and will be higher ranked than Murray

Men's final in Miami will be between Sinner and Hurkacz. Sinner has been an advancing star for some time, and along with the even younger Musetti, is part of an Italian contingent that could well win team competitions in the next few years. Hurkacz had seem a bit becalmed in the low 30s rankings in the last couple of years so this is a big step up.

Hurkacz wins - anyone betting on that at the start would be doing well.
Barty wins with Andreescu retiring hurt. Really worrying that it's yet another injury for Andreescu.

that is very good, isn't it. I heard it on the PM programme. At least Evans has a nice easy name to remember!

It's by some distance his best. He's provisionally up to no 27 with this which is one below his highest ranking. He's now nearly 31 which once would have been old. He's done much better and is much more consistent since his drugs ban.
He also won his doubles match with Neale Skupski beating the 3rd seeds  Dodig and Polasek after this match so a good day.

Also lower down the rankings a good win for Liam Broady over Nakashima moves him up to provisional 137,  15 up on his highest ranking.

Later we get the UK in the Billie Jean Cup, Fed Cup as was, against Mexico. No Konta.

And Rublev beats Nadal.

Tsitsipas v Evans
Rublev v Ruud

If anyone had predicted that before the start, get them to tell you the lottery numbers.

Tsitsipas and Rublev win to bring a semblance of normality back. Evans playing in the doubles semi final now.
