What a prize arsehole. The only significant difference between him and Fred "God hates fags" Phelps is that Green, regrettably, is still alive.

A Christian is someone who believes certain propositions. If he believes them, he's a Christian. Christian belief ought to make one a better person, but that's not the essence of it. Therefore, I think he is a Christian, though emphatically not the kind I want anything to do with.

To be fair, Green would probably have been a vicious, bigoted twunt even if he was an atheist. He just has that kind of personality.
