Northern Ireland
« on: April 06, 2021, 01:37:34 PM »
While in some senses this has a relationship to the Brexit thread, It's too serious and more complex  to me to just be placed there. These issues were known before Johnson's deal.

And more rioting. This is extremely worrying.

The lying incompetent corrupt racist thug that is PM, or his office anyway, tweeted this 'I am deeply concerned by the scenes of violence in Northern Ireland, especially attacks on PSNI who are protecting the public and businesses, attacks on a bus driver and the assault of a journalist. The way to resolve differences is through dialogue, not violence or criminality.'

Pity that his lies about the deal are in part why we are here, and he was told about the danger. But he's too cowardly to own his incompetence

The useless detritus who styled himself 'minister for the union' seems to be an expert in achieving its' dissolution.
"for, as long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself."

One wonders at the nous, or lack of it, of the Tories in not realising, or perhaps not caring, that Brexit was always going to be a risk to over 20 odd years of relative (even if fragile) peace in NI at the point they decided to backtrack to get their 'deal' and effectively introduce a sea border. The DUP have showed they are no better by getting into bed with the Tories to support May in 2017, and get some dosh, and in supporting Brexit even though the vote for Remain in NI was a clear majority - and now they complain at what the nasty Tories have done to them in the name of Brexit.

Hard to see how this works out well.

That is pretty darned good. That is if anything about this whole mess can be considered "good".
Before we work on Artificial Intelligence shouldn't we address the problem of natural stupidity.
