Interesting match tomorrow with Nadal v Khachanov. Nadal has not lost a competitive match since his return from injury. Khachanov will be a good test.

I listened to most of Murray match and it sounds as if his opponent played well, and I was sorry to hear that at the end he flung his racquet to the ground.
And then I listened to some of Emma Radukanu's match, but it sounds as if that was quite a nasty blister.

An interview with Novak Djokovic on BBC1 this evening at 8.30 about his reasons for not taking the Covid-19 vaccination. There was a clip of the interview on BBC Breakfast this morning and Djokovic was very interesting in his replies, i.e. he claims not to be an anti-vaxxer but is very concerned for his bodily health and says this is more important to him than winning any trophies or accolades.

It will be interesting then to see whether and how he considers himself above others he could have given the virus to.

Why? He hasn't had the vaccine. Nothing you can do about it. No point in wondering if he considers himself above others. What's the point of that?

For a couple of reasons have not been following tennis as closely lately, but next week we will have the first male tennis single player ranked No 1 outside of Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Murray in over 18 years.

Let's be honest, nothing anybody says about any tennis player on this thread has any point. Djokovic is clearly an idiot who thinks his status as a great tennis player means he can ignore the law and he has contempt for everybody he endangers as a result. There may not be any point in saying that but it's still a fact.

Ash Barty retires - could be a big problem for women's tennis with Serena Williams unlikely to be back for any length of time, Osaka looking out of sorts. There's a strong cadre of younger players in Swiatek, Raducanu, Fernandez, and Gauff but losing the world number 1 will hit hard.

And they both lost. Norrie also lost in Miami though seems to have an injury issue.

Fruhvirtova lost to Badosa, and Swiatek eased past Gauff. Swiatek having an excellent run.

Medvedev beaten by Hurkacz so Djokovic will remain No 1. He's joined in the semi finals by Alcaraz, who he plays, Ruud, and Francisco Cerundolo, the older brother of the two professional tennis playing Cerundolo brothers.

Swiatek beats Osaka relatively easily on her 17th straight win, during which she is on a run of 20 straight sets won. With Barty retiring, she's looking a cut above every one else.

Men's final between Ruud and Alcaraz.

Medvedev going to be out for a couple of months as he's having operation. This means most of the clay court season will have no Nadal, no Medvedev, and no clay court season for Murray and Federer. It also means that if Djokovic plays he's pretty well certain to remain number 1 till the French Open.
