Former Afghan MP Mursal Nabizada shot dead in Kabul
« on: January 15, 2023, 08:57:27 PM »
How many have died in Afghanistan for nothing? As bad as ever. Having lost a great friend when he was murdered there for trying to help farmers move away from opium farming, and supporting women to have bank accounts, it seems as if his efforts were  worthless.

The Taliban seem so entrenched in enforcing their mysogynystic theocracy there seems to be no hope now, especially if you are female.

Still,  how they hope to run a country with a Kalashnikov in one hand and a copy of the Koran in the other is a situation so detached from reality that the country can't be long before it totally implodes. Ostracized and isolated from the rest of the world and at least half its educated work force immobilized or fled, what hope is there for them?
It surely can't be long before they come crawling on their hands and knees  ready to compromise in turn for western aid. Or is Saudi supporting them, perhaps thinking this is the start of a great worldwide Islamic Shariah revival?
Whatever, the suffering for the immediate future looks to be unimaginable.

What does Sharia law, in the Taliban interpretation, say about trading in opiate narcotics?

In theory and according to the Taliban govt it's against it. In practice, well last time they used it as a cash generator.
