Having worked in Amsterdam for a year or so some years ago, I can understand that they are trying to deal with the interaction of drugs and those tourists who come to see and use the red light district. I could never understand how residents put up with the red light district. I used the cannabis cafes very very occasionally when I was there but the red light district freaked me out as the crowds, including families with young children, went to it to gawp.
