Leaving aside the specifics of any bills, and that the Hate Crime Act from two years had not been brought into force for a number of reasons, I hate Hate Crime legislation. If some act is bad enough to be against the law then it should be against the law if carried out against anyone, not just on the basis of a set of listed characteristics. And if a friend is murdered I don't see why it's worse if the person did it because they were part of a group listed in law as opposed to not.
