The incredible lateness of ferries
« on: March 15, 2023, 12:15:50 PM »
I could have attached this in the SNP leadership thread, and I couldn't find quickly enough an earlier ferry thread but this story is bigger than just the next FM. It's a mess that just keeps getting messier. There's been an overly centralised aporoach in the SNP govt, something far from unique to them, but in this we also see that there is very little understanding of the imporatance of the ferries to the islands.

Like the subtle Kundera reference!
( (12 + 144 + 20 + 3 Sqrt[4]) / 7 ) + 5*11 = 9^2+ 0

More ferry problems, and Transport no longer a cabinet position.

And more ferry problems, the second is the responsibility of Highlands Council but it just adds to the feeling of incompetence

And they wonder why our ship building industry is practically extinct.

I think the SNP would be quite happy at the moment if this issue had the worst optics of any issue they are facing.

Hmm... The wider ferry issue is deeply significant in the communities affected and it gives the impression of the SNP as caring only for the central belt. Add to that both Labour and Tories can point to a greater success in building ferries when they were responsible, and that the issue involves a lack of transparency, and fiscal imcompetence and it's easy to portray it as symptomatic of wider issues.
