The conspiracy theory is that every MP who BJ was going to elevate to the House of Lords had their honours pulled by the government so as to avoid by elections. When Dorries learned of that, she decided to stitch up the government by triggering a by election anyway.

I doubt if it is true, but part of me hopes so because it would be a sign that the government is imploding.
