I won't bother. They don't seem to understand grammar.

When politicians talk about making tough decisions, they mean tough for us, not for them.

I was wrong about 118 - "will" and "may" are both modal verbs, and thus irregular. The New Shorter Oxford and Merriam-Webster online confirmed what two posters on the "Connections" FB group I'm a member of told me. Thank heavens for my lexicographer friends, Miriam Webster and Dick Shonery!

Hmmm... again. One of the purple group doesn't work, being a how example rather than why as the others are. Similarly 1 of the purples feels off, not becauss it's parochial, though it is, but because it's not really a type, and the others are.

I don't think any of the purple don't fit, although I do understand why you might think not.

I didn't think it was wrong because they are irregular but using because they didn't consistently use the base verb, which I think they need to, and then used different parts of the verb.

I think you're over-thinking the purple. They are just words that can go in front of "opera": their grammatical function is irrelevant.

I see I've written purple twice!!! Eejit that I am. The first one should be yellow in which I think 1 is wrong.

Do we all have the same "1"?

Of my yellows, I think you could argue that 3 doesn't quite fit.

I think we're looking at it from opposite ends.

SPOILER ALERT

It says celebratory occasions and the four are Anniversary, Birthdaty, Shower, Wedding. If you read that as occasions you celebrate then Shower doesn't work. If you read it as things you do to celebrate events, then Shower works but the others with the arguable exception of Wedding don't.

I think you're meant to get confused with the relationship of Wedding and Reception from the Phone Group, and Shower and Reception. Sadly I think they've just confused themselves

I hink this may be a case of two nations divided by a common language.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baby_shower

No, I know what a baby shower is. It's an event to celebrate the upcoming birth. A 'birthday' or an anniversary are things you would have an event to celebrate. A wedding can arguably be both, though the equivalent to a baby shower would generally be a wedding reception, hence the 'reception' use in the grid hoping to confuse.

Shower is the one I thought might be out of place. The others are all reasons to celebrate. A shower is a way to celebrate.

I think we are over analysing this, tbh.

I got yellow easily - in fact, I thought the category was more precise than it was. I had no idea with blue and purple, though.

A fairly easy one - nice change after the last two. I'd've never got purple, though, because two must be Americanisms.
