Yeah, I found it tough but it seemed that I couldn't really find groups of four rather than find it hard to work out what belonged in which group of 4.

Indeed. Fortunately, I recognised one as a Yank spelling and tried it with the British spelling. What was deceptive was that the Yank spelling is also the British one in some contexts.
