I'm guessing Steve is thinking percussion should have been involved instead of the offered word. It was certainly my first thought when I looked at the options. The other possibility is that wood should have been attached to one word. It seemed a bit loose to me as I tend to think in orchestral terms, but close enough to make no difference.

The rhythm section of the Beatles was Paul and Ringo (bass and drums).

It's not a term they use for orchestras, I think, but the answer did not use the word "orchestra".

Yes, I know it didn't use the word orchestra, I was just trying to explain how thought processes might have led to Steve thinking that way. I'm sure he'll let us know if it was that.

Yes, I did think it should have been called "percussion", but that wasn't a category mistake. In any case, as jeremyp points out, it didn't specifically say "orchestra".

There is no rule in the puzzle that says the sections needed to be non overlapping. The rhythm section in a band will included the electric or double bass which is also a stringed instrument.

I absolutely knew green and three members but I couldn't get the fourth one except by guessing.

As for blue

A "super" in the USA is short for superintendent and is like a caretaker or janitor for a block of flats.

Also a test key is the answers, if that is the one you were having trouble with.

I worked both of these out retrospectively. I didn't have a clue on blue.

Hmmm... I'd say one of purple and blue are a stretch. Blue is a bit of a mess.
