this ISNT "great symbolism". The unicorn is chained in our heraldry & flags because its a dangerous wild animal, the chains mean we have control over it. The chained unicorn represents Scotlands power over danger. You have symbolically freed a dangerous killer into the population

... it seems he is broadly correct, but the "we" who have control are the Scottish monarchs, so cutting the chains is republican symbolism.
