Runaround now!
« on: October 19, 2023, 12:19:20 PM »
Just had David Linden, the SNP MP from Glasgow East round canvassing, as we become part of there at next election with the boundary changes.
First time been canvassed in 18 years - 2005 election. First time seen an MP doing in fuck knows. And with today's 'severely autumnal' weather! Points.

This doesn't really prove anything, but in the 47 yeas I've lived in Hemel, I've had two Labour MPs and two Tory MPs. I used to see both the Labour MPs around town from time to time, and was once canvassed at home by the second, just before he became an MP, in 1997, because I'd offered to help the local campaign. The only time I saw the first Tory was on his last day as MP, May 1st 1997, getting out of his car outside the Tory headquarters looking worried, as well he might, and the only time I've seen the second and current Tory MP was at a local inter-church gathering, where he was smarming all and sundry.
I once tried using "chicken" as a password, but was told it must contain a capital so I tried "chickenkiev"
On another occasion, I tried "beefstew", but was told it wasn't stroganoff.

It's interesting times here. The current constituency has disappeared entirely, spread across 4 others. We used to be on the east corner of the old constitiency. The boundary runs  up the street to the east our block.

We're now on the north west corner of the new constituency. The old border is the same for the north east of the block but the new constituency didn't border us at all.

Both the old constituency that has gone, and the one we have been moved to are held by the SNP. The two current MPs had the selection meeting last week with the vote going to the person whose constituency still exists though in a very different form. The MP for the constituency that has disappeared has been selected for one of the other constituencies as the current SNP for that has failed vetting.
