Parting of the Red Sea
« on: December 25, 2023, 03:59:20 PM »
Hi everyone,

Here is an article giving various possible mechanisms for the parting of the Red sea during the Exodus led by Moses.

Just because there are certain mechanisms through which it happens, does not mean it is not a miracle.

Cheers

Which would, were the stories to be true, also mean the Jewish/Christian god's murder of the firstborn in Egypt was true and that people think murder is worth worship.

The other possibility is that, like Moses, the episode is fictional.

As far as the Jahwist narratives in the first five books of the Bible (and possibly a few more) are concerned, that's a fair description. Though he's also a bit of a shape-shifter.
Happy New Year.

Don't think they are trying too hard - I haven't exactly been in hiding!

And a happy new year to you too, Gordon.
I hope you weren't too unrestrained during Hogmanay.
It's origins are interesting. I might start a thread.
