Watching the men's speed climbing where Sam Watson has just set a new world record of 4.75 seconds. I'm not sure I could match his vertical speed horizontally.

Here's a video of the previous world record

Breaking makes its Olympic debut

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/extra/68hxs9lsfb/breaking-the-new-olympic-sport-for-2024-explained

Meanwhile we're half way through the second day of competition in the Modern Pentathlon, and I've still yet to hear the BBC mention either of our defending Olympic champions who've been in action...

Some coverage today. I think the structure of the competition with semi finals and the spread over the days has caused issues but agree that the BBC seems a bit embarrassed by it.

The climbing final is oddly hypnotic, as so often the slightly less well known sports can be. I can feel my body tensing as they go up.

I've been regularly climbing (bouldering and lead) for around 14 years now. Great to see it in the Olympics and great to see Toby win gold. Not a fan of speed though.
I have an infinite number of belief systems cos there are an infinite number of things I don't believe in.
