When I have more time I'll try a longer response, in the meantime, I've given up on going to Pride.
Several reasons - I feel too old. There is too much noise (see thread elsewhere on noise in sport!)
I don't feel Pride in anyway resembles what it was - is that a good thing or a bad thing - I don't know, but it doesn't reflect how I think about Pride or as we used to call it in simpler times, gay pride. The commercialisation identified is a huge problem for me. The feeling that the banks and Mr Sainsbury adorn their windows and aisles with flags in an effort to make more money rather than show any true support haunts my thoughts.
And the clash of extreme Trans ideology with traditional gay rights further alienates me from the celebration.
