Three men accused of plotting 9/11 reach plea deal
« on: August 01, 2024, 09:14:32 AM »
Listened to the wife of one of those murdered saying how this was an affront to justice and blaming the Biden administration for it, and I had some sympathy, but can't see anything the Biden administration gets out of this. It's in various ways been an affront to justice over 20 years. I'm surprised that it's happened this close to the election as it will play into Trump's narrative.

Quote from: The Article
US news outlets say the men will plead guilty in exchange for the prosecution agreeing not to seek the death penalty.

If true, this is actually pretty good news. The men go to prison, probably forever but the trial is much less expensive and there is no martyrdom and no expensive long drawn out appeals process as they seek to avoid being executed.

Good.
In what way? I suspect there won't be a trial which will mean that there is no question of justice for anyone.

This is a conundrum. They agreed a deal which involved them pleading guilty. What happens now if they plead not guilty at the trial?
