Why are we so obsessed with pumpkin spice?

I find pumpkin spice a bit overwhelming but I'll use pumpkin in making granola this week.

Are we obsessed with it?

That seems like a grandiose claim to me.

I don't even know if I have ever had it. I've seen it as an additive to coffee which seems stupid. Who wants to ruin a good coffee's taste with any other taste?

And the market doubling in 28 years as the article covers is hardly obsession. I'm like you in that other than a drop.of milk on occasion, and on the very rare occasion some whisky, I don't generally like additions to coffee.

That said, I make a mean espresso martini.

I have never heard of pumpkin spice before today, it would certainly not be to my  taste.

Quite a lot of people. Syrups to put in your coffee to make it taste like not coffee are very popular.

Just drink warm pumpkin spice cordial in that case.

Never mind the coffee - what a criminal waste of whisky!

Nor me, until this thread. According to Wikipedia (so it must be true), it's more fully known as pumpkin pie spice, is American, and is similar to British mixed spice.
